SDUs: A Brief History
Syringe Dispensing Units, also known as needle vending machines and automatic dispensing machines, have played a pivotal role in Australia's public health strategy for harm reduction among intravenous drug users.
Introduced in the late 1980s, these machines have evolved to become a crucial component of the country's response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the spread of bloodborne diseases.
Weather Resistant & Secure
Our range of Syringe Dispensing Units are manufactured from powder coated galvanized steel. During manufacture, the case carcasses and doors are first assembled with steel pop rivets before being stitch welded for maximum durability.
Once welded and pre-assembly is complete, the machine components are cleaned and delivered to our powder coaters where they undergo a 5-stage iron phosphate cleaning and coating process that removes contaminants and coats the surfaces in readiness for powder coating and baking.

Each machine is fitted with two T-Handle locks and a heavy-duty concealed shank puck lock. In the event an intruder attempts to pry open the machine door, an internal alarm system sounds.
Dispensing Flexibility
Pre-setting & Pricing
Machines may be pre-set to dispense up to 10 product selections, with dispensing lines mapped to each of the available selections. The price of each selection can be set between $0.01 & $99.00, or set to "free-vend" by programming the price as $0.00.
Additionally, our software has a configurable free-vend delay feature that introduces a timed delay between each free-vend to discourage product hoarding.

Adjustable Shelves
​
The G2VD0407 and G2VD0409 Syringe Dispensing Units come with height adjustable product shelves to facilitate a range of product sizes within the machine. Additionally, adjustable rails on each shelf cater to smaller products.

Payment Technology & Telemetry
Our Vending Machine Controllers adopt industry standard protocols including MDB/ICP and EVA-DTS which makes them readily able to adopt a wide range of payment systems and telemetry systems.
Where coin payment is required, we choose systems from Crane Payment Innovations due to their reliability and wide reaching availability.

The optional telemetry function periodically interrogates the VMC for sales data and trasmits that data to your chosen VMMS provider (e.g. Nayax, Circumtec, Canteloupe) in near time over the mobile broadband network. Stock status can be viewed in near-time from your desktop PC or your smart phone.

G2V Design was the first in the industry to provide the ability to capture non-identifying demographic data which can provide a deep insight into the cohort using the services. Typically our clients elect to collect:

Installation Options
Power Configuration
​
Our machines have an inbuilt switch mode power supply where mains electricity is available. Specific power configuration requirements will be during the site evaluation phase.

Alternatively, when access to power is not available or impractical we provide battery operation. The units are operated using 2 x 12vDC rechargeable sealed lead acid batteries in a caddy. Under typical circumstances the battery system should operate for approximately 6 weeks between recharge cycles. We also provide an extra battery kit which can be on charge while the first is in operation. Change-over is as simple as lifting out the old caddy and replacing with the freshly charged set.

Wall or Floor Mounted
​
Typically our Syringe Dispensing Units are installed outdoors near NSPs, Emergency Departments and Community Health Centres. We recommend the SDUs are afforded some shelter from the elements by a portico or verandah given the contents of the packages contain items that have temperature limitations. This also reduces severe temperature fluctuations that can jeopardise the longevity of the electronics and motors.
Customers may choose from two stands on which to mount the machine.

Wall stand - specifically designed to be fixed to a masonry/concrete wall with masonry anchors.

Floor stand - only requires fixing to a concrete pad.

Colour Scheme

Our SDU colour scheme has been chosen to be discrete and unremarkable. If "bronze-olive" isn't to your taste, we can customise the exterior colours (subject to availability).
